Privacy policy

Dolly is a personal-use assistant operated by Mail-Rail's owner. This policy describes the assistant and its Google Calendar connection.

Information used

Mail-Rail receives the owner's emails, including message content, subject lines, sender and recipient addresses, and threading information. For calendar requests, Dolly uses the event details provided in that conversation.

With the owner's authorization, Dolly connects to Google Calendar using permission to manage events on calendars the owner owns. The current implementation creates events only on the primary calendar and retrieves its own event after a retry to avoid duplicates. It does not request access to contacts or invite guests.

Processing and service providers

Google provides email delivery and Calendar services. Cloudflare forwards emails sent to the assistant's domain addresses. Mail-Rail sends calendar-request text and relevant conversation history to the configured Anthropic Claude service to interpret the request. Event details are sent to Google Calendar to perform the requested action, and the result is returned to the owner by email.

Mail-Rail does not sell personal data, use it for advertising, or intentionally provide it to unrelated parties. The named providers process information under their own service terms and privacy policies. Mail-Rail's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Storage and security

Messages, conversation history, event identifiers, and delivery state are stored locally on the owner's computer to support follow-up questions and safe retries. Google authorization credentials are kept in a separate local file with restricted access and excluded from source control. Calendar conversation details are excluded from Mail-Rail's published dashboard feed.

Local records are retained until the owner removes them; automatic deletion is not currently implemented. Email and calendar copies are retained by their respective services according to the owner's settings.

Control and deletion

The owner may stop Mail-Rail, delete its local records, and revoke Dolly's Google access in Google Account connections. Revoking access stops future Calendar actions; it does not delete events already created. Those events and email copies can be removed in Google Calendar and Gmail.

This information website

This site has no account creation, advertising, analytics scripts, or forms. Its hosting providers may process ordinary request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver and protect the site.
